NO NO NO. Coconut oil as well as palm oil are the WORST oils for the body. They have high fat content. Canola, olive oil, and safflower oils are much better with monounsaturated fats.
Any diet that claims to get you to lose weight with oil and especially a high fat oil like coconut is a bunch of BULL. You will gain tons of fat using that oil!
I have not tried coconut oil. If you wish to I would suggest buying organic (not hydrogenated). I do take in about 50g of saturated fat on my work out days and somewhere between 20-30 on non workout days (lots of eggs and lots of cream). While I am far from an expert, I did lose 20lbs but I also work out intensely...3 days a week for around 2hrs a day with weights - no cardio. My triglycerides and LDL were cut in half after following this for a year. So, I'm not exactly convinced that our body turns fat we eat into fat on our body.
That being said I would have to question what you plan on doing with the coconut oil (drinking/eating it straight or substituting it for lets say butter...etc) and your current fitness level. There is no easy answer for weight loss. It requires time and effort.
