And what do they add to supermarket shop bought peanut that doesn't make the oil sit on the top? Do they add a different type of fat or a coagulant of some description to stop the oil separating? And is this harmful to the body? Why does the peanut butter I buy from healthshops have oil that floats/sits on the top in the jar?
It means they have not added saturated fats or additives like guar gum to make it ready to spread. It means it is WAY more healthful than the non-separated PB. What you can do to make it easier to mix up is to turn the jar upside down for at least a day - then it will have started blending itself and you don't have to stir it up so much. Why does the peanut butter I buy from healthshops have oil that floats/sits on the top in the jar?
The natural oils rise to the top as the peanutbutter settles.
Do not pour it out, stir it in to restore creamy texture. I know that it seems like a pain but it is worth it, for flavor and consistency. No it is not harmful to the body. Fattening maybe, but not harmful unless you tend to overindulge.
That's made out of natural pasturized peanuts and oil. It's better for you than the usual skippy peanut butter :D
Don't worry about it. Oil always gets seperated from whatever's heavier, so it happens to float on the top. just open the jar and give it a little stir before spreading it. dont take the oil out! that will make the peanut butter go hard and yuck D:
It is totally harmless - I use it all the time. Here is what you need to do to minimize the oil on top. Store it up-side down in the fridge before opening. Leave overnight. Open the container and stir with a knife. It will be awesome - it is much better than any of the commercial brands.
its natural peanut butter. it wont hurt u. youre supposed to stir it up. it doesnt have all those chemicals and preservatives, thats why it looks that way.
Because its organic I think.
peanuts are full of oil so it's probably ok, just give it a good stir before you eat it.
